I am creating this scholarship because I understand firsthand the challenges many first-generation college students face. As the son of immigrants and a first-generation college graduate, I knew that earning a college degree could change the trajectory of my life. However, financial limitations meant that I often had to focus on work instead of opportunities that many of my peers enjoyed. While other students studied abroad, traveled during spring break, or participated in other enriching experiences, I remained on campus working through my work-study program and doing what I could to minimize debt.
