Mission

I attended the University of Cincinnati, Aerospace Engr, 1972. UC Engr has a mandatory co-op program. I worked at NASA and the Air Force before graduating. I can't make a strong enough recommendation for an engineering co-op school. Now, when I look at a UC engineering class picture, they all look like me, meaning no real diversity. Let's see what we can do to change that. I was an average student and scared to death that I might not be able to "cut it". If I can do it, you can do it.

Dear Charles, I want to express my deepest gratitude for selecting me as a recipient of the Anderson Engineering Scholarship. It truly means so much to be recognized and supported by someone with such vision and experience in the field. Receiving this scholarship not only eases the financial weight of my education, but also empowers me to focus wholeheartedly on the impact I hope to make with my knowledge. I promise to carry this opportunity forward and extend its influence beyond myself to other aspiring individuals. Your personal story and mission deeply resonate with me. I too once believed that I was simply an average student without any innate academic talent. Learning that you faced similar uncertainties, and went on to build a successful path for yourself and other minority engineers, is motivating and inspiring. Your journey reminds me that anything is possible. Thank you for your kindness and belief in my potential. Your support inspires me to work harder and embrace the challenges ahead, knowing there are people like you who believe in students like me. I hope that one day I can use my education to help diversify the engineering field and make an impact on others, just as you have done for me. Thank you so much again, Jenny Nguyen

Dear Charles, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for selecting me as a recipient of the Anderson Engineering Scholarship. Receiving this support truly means a lot to me, and it affirms my commitment to my studies and future in engineering. With this scholarship, I’m able to focus more deeply on my civil engineering coursework at Temple University, knowing that I have help covering some of the financial demands of college. Your generosity is lifting a significant weight from my shoulders, and it allows me to dedicate more energy to advancing my skills and growing as a young professional. Coming from Washington, D.C., and being in the early stages of my college journey, I've worked hard to carve a path forward—first as a computer science apprentice at Georgetown and now as a civil engineering major. Looking ahead, my goal is to contribute to infrastructure development and help shape better communities. Support like yours brings me closer to these aspirations and encourages me to persevere through any challenges. I’m truly inspired by your story and your mission to bring more diversity into engineering. Seeing someone who once faced the same doubts and succeeded gives me extra motivation to keep going. Your dedication to making engineering more inclusive is making a real difference, and I’m proud to be part of that change. Thank you for your kindness and for believing in students like me. Your support has an impact that goes far beyond financial help, and I look forward to, one day, giving back to others as you have. Thank you, Jaky Jackson
