Being a scholarship winner of the Cariloop scholarship signifies much more than merely receiving financial assistance; it is a profound validation of my journey, my mission, and the trials I have faced and overcome. It reflects the acknowledgment of my determination to combat maternal mortality in Georgia and of my passionate advocacy for healthcare equity and social justice. Moreover, it means the recognition of my unique background as an immigrant, a mother, a foster parent to a special needs child, and a first-generation college student. These identities have shaped my perspective and approach toward nursing and social justice. Thus, this scholarship serves as a testament to the importance of diversity in views, acknowledging that valuable change often emerges from the most challenging circumstances. On a personal level, this scholarship is a tribute to the unwavering support of my family, particularly my veteran husband, who has been my rock in managing our unique family dynamics while pursuing my education. His sacrifices and dedication enable me to focus on my aspirations, and winning this scholarship is a shared victory for both of us. Professionally, the scholarship will bolster my efforts to bring about transformative change in healthcare policy and practice. It provides me with additional resources and credibility to challenge systemic barriers, advocate for equity, and work relentlessly toward reducing maternal mortality rates. Being a scholarship winner is a milestone in my journey, an affirmation of my efforts, and a catalyst propelling me further in my mission to integrate nursing with social justice. It means investing in my future and acknowledging my past and the resilience I have displayed along the way. It empowers me to continue on my path, carrying forward my story of strength and drive and using it to bring about impactful change in our society.
