I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Beck family for taking the time to consider my essay and for blessing me with a $2,500 scholarship. I had recorded a video message to express my thanks, but due to technical issues, I was unable to send it. If the Beck family has a phone number or another means of contact, I would love the opportunity to share it with you. There are so many stories I’d like to share, but for now, I’ll keep it brief and offer a quick thought about how individuals like Wesley have impacted my life. Throughout my years of service at Camp Barnabas and relationships with individuals with special needs, I’ve witnessed an infectious positivity and a deep appreciation for the small things in life. Their rare and remarkable outlook has taught me invaluable lessons, and I’m incredibly grateful for the perspective they've given me. Applying what I’ve learned from them has brought unmatched joy into my life. Although I never had the chance to meet Wesley, it’s heartbreaking that he is no longer with us. From everything I’ve come to understand, I believe every high school student could benefit from experiencing the joy and light that individuals like Wesley bring into the world. I’m excited to continue working with this community in the near future. If the Beck family is ever involved in any service or research opportunities in the future, I would be honored if you kept me in mind—I would love to help in any way I can.
