I'm a bubble tea and neuroscience enthusiast with a passion for spreading knowledge and kindness!! When I'm not absorbed in a book or listening to a vinyl record, I love taking my puppy on hikes, working on my neuroscience research for the genetic expression of Parkinson's Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, practicing my foreign language fluency (Spanish and Mandarin), and penning my inner musings as a published author. One of my most notable international impacts has been as Co-Director of the Modern Youth Education, Leadership, and Inquiry in Neuroscience (MYELIN) Initiative's free neuroscience curriculum at the International Youth Neuroscience Association—an organization with nearly 5,500 members across 99 countries. Moreover, my neuroscience workshops for Simply Neuroscience geared towards underprivileged youth have also been used across the United States, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, and India. In the future, I plan to pursue a double major in neurobiology and psychology before attending medical school to become a neurosurgeon. As someone who has needed multiple surgeries myself, I am dedicated to using my leadership and passion to serve others. In the classroom and in my community, I am committed to enacting positive change through scientific research, increasing STEM equity with accessible educational resources, and advocating for human and environmental wellness. Despite the financial setbacks of my medical bills, I am a perseverant individual ardent about pursuing my post-secondary education. With scholarships as support, my plans can come to fruition!

My vision for the future is unclear right now, which makes figuring out which majors I want to pursue difficult. However, something I've always known about my future is that I want to do something exciting. Something that challenges me to go out of my comfort zone, lets me meet new people, and isn't the same routine day in and day out. This is why I think acting appeals to me. It's not about fame or money. It's about learning to be comfortable with yourself and to take opportunities as they come around. It's about meeting new people and hearing their stories. A setback I have to deal with is getting intense social anxiety when I'm in a group of people, and public speaking is a nightmare, but I refuse to let these fears keep me from going after the dreams I've had for so long. I have many other academic interests. Coding and computer science used to be something I didn't pay much mind to until my dad bought me a book from where I can easily learn to code. It opened up a whole new world for me to explore and expand my creativity into. Understanding and learning how computers work and all the different things that can be achieved with them is incredibly important for the coming age. When all is said and done, I do still want to do my best to keep an open mind about career options. There are so many career paths that haven't even crossed my mind, which is why I'll continue to branch out and try new things till I find the career that makes me the happiest.

My life goals are to work for a political advocacy group or non-profit or doing research in social sciences. I aspire to answer the questions like how can our political polling predictions be more accurate? Or What influences voters? I hope to study political science and communications in college, earning a bachelor's degree. While I have a strong passion for political and social sciences I also love art and music. I think it’s important to be able to express yourself in different mediums as it provides an alternate way of thought that challenges the brain. I also am fully fluent in French, which I’ve been learning since first grade.
