I am a planner, a Pisces, and most importantly, a community builder. Since my brother's autism diagnosis, I've spent countless hours working with disabled Atlantans and their families. Whether as a volunteer, nonprofit leader, or family member myself, I've learned the value of learning people's stories. My eventual career goal is to serve as a psychotherapist for autistic patients with co-occurring trauma disorders. The rates of abuse against this community are high, but few professionals are equipped to provide autistic people with the same help that so many neurotypical people seek. I want to bridge those disparities and develop more effective tools for treating trauma in autistic people. As a lifelong student of psychology—my own, and that of others around me—I have found my calling in this field. I love the disabled community, and I can't wait to help its members heal.

I aspire to become a clinical or industrial-organizational psychologist because I want to help others view themselves in a more positive light. Low self-esteem is a huge issue currently facing our society, and it is an issue that will not go away anytime soon. I believe that I can make a positive impact on people's lives through this career path. I am passionate about the impact of good nutrition on a person's overall well-being, and I hope to minor in this discipline to help diagnose and treat eating disorders as a clinical psychologist. I also hope to one day open a private practice. I desire to also minor in business to astutely approach the process of starting my practice. In my free time, I love to cook and exercise. Both of these hobbies are ones through which I can maintain a well-rounded, healthful lifestyle. I am grateful for the opportunity to obtain scholarships that bold.org has granted me. If selected, I will utilize the scholarships to pay for my college education and hopefully reduce my number of student loans. This will only benefit me as I continue into graduate school and beyond. I appreciate your consideration!

Diligent, punctual, honest, empathetic, and dependable are 5 adjectives that I would use to describe myself. I am seen as diligent because when I have a task to do, I put all my effort into doing the task because no matter how small the task is, you should always give it your full attention. Everyone I know would describe me as a very punctual person. No matter what time an event or place I have to be starts, I will always be there 30 minutes early because it is better to be early than late. I am a very honest person, no matter what the scenario is I always tell the truth because the weight of lying will crush you and make you feel guilty. My peers would describe me as a very empathetic person as I always feel others struggles and joy. If anyone I know is going through difficult times I put myself in their shoes and try to understand what they are going through even if we are not close. Lastly, I feel I’m a very dependable individual. I am always on time and can always finish tasks ahead of the due date which makes me a very dependable student/employee. My life goals are to have enough money to support my mother and father so that they can relax in their old age. My future career aspiration is to be an orthodontist. My intended area of study is either Biology or Chemistry. I’ve always been fascinated with the machinery I see when I visit the dentist from a young age and have always known that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field.
