The teachers I've had are all really great. They're helpful and informative. There are a lot of resources to help like free tutoring. I also enjoy the social aspect of it. I don't live in the dorms, but I've always had positive interactions with students in classes.
I haven't encountered anything I particularly dislike.
Diversity and inclusion efforts.
Food quality. No inclusion for a vegan like myself
William Paterson is a nice college but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I say this because it's the people that make the school and I feel as though a lot of the good people that have tried to make a change for the school are gone or leaving. Academic wise it is ok I know there are other schools with worse academics than this school. I know other students who have transferred from William Paterson and honestly, if I could I would've transferred my sophomore year.
One thing I don't like about this school is the faculty. I am currently in my senior year as an undergraduate student and after this school, I'm going to get my doctorate at a different school where I have been already accepted. Prior to me applying to programs to get my doctorate there were quite a few faculty members that indirectly told me I wouldn't get accepted and that actually hurt because you go to these people who should be helping you and they don't. They kind of push your dream away all because they might've not gotten accepted to doctorate programs the first time applying.
As an online student, I like that William Paterson University is inclusive and interactive. I feel accompanied throughout the entire process, from enrollment to monthly check-ins with advisors.
There's nothing that I don't like. But if you don't like constant check-ins and phone calls from advisors, you might feel put off. However, you could always ask for a particular mode of communication over another.
This university is more suited for first-generation students who want to earn a degree more than the social life that a college offers. The education load is fair and can be rewarding if one is organized and passionate about learning. It might not be the ideal college but it gets the work done.
Prospective students need to be aware that this is not a party school. There is not a lot of school spirit either. Most students are commuters and come to classes and leave. If you are a student okay with that, then this college is for you.
