WHAT I LIKED

What I enjoyed the most about West Valley was the math and science professors. Jumping straight into a degree in the sciences, I felt that I was not sufficiently prepared in high school for the math and science courses. For this reason, the professors were understanding in the way that they looked after each of their students and cared about our ability to grasp the information.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Although the professors were good, the computer science curriculum felt too rushed. After taking the same computer science courses at other colleges, I felt that their pacing was perfect to master each topic and be ready for the next course. I never felt "ready" at West Valley.

WHAT I LIKED

I like that there was an opportunity if you were willing to ask for it. The teachers are very helpful and understand the delicate integration of a pandemic and honestly give you the tools to succeed in a class. Especially taking harder academic courses I was able to get as much help through tutoring, office hours, and canvas help.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

There are no dorms because it’s a community college but I think having that element makes a difference. The other thing would be the cafeteria was only open at a certain time and I would get out at four so I wouldn’t have anything to eat.
