I like the community and values.
Lack of options with classes.
In my opinion, I think WT is a wonderful place. Sure there might be ups and downs, but really every University has those. If you’re looking for a party school, WT is not where you want to be. Although, we have plenty of other opportunities for social life and social events on campus. WT also has amazing professors who genuinely want the best for you and want you to thrive at WT and help all they can to make that happen. If I were asked to redo it all I would in a heartbeat.
WT is definitely not a party school. We have some, but it’s only if you know about them. It’s not like other D1 schools where every weekend there’s a party. Also, WT is heavily involved in religion and has one of the most active ministries that I know of for a school that isn’t a religious college. Almost everyone you bump into is a part of the ministry on campus or has some connection to it.
Their staff is always ready to help and reply fairly quickly. They have many resources to offer when looking for help with finances, academics, financial aid, counseling, advising, career services, etc. I can say most of my professors have been willing to work with me when something comes up and many love talking with you. I have special diet requirements and they were very willing to specialize my food especially when I had to quarantine for a short period.
If you are going into the dorms I would be mindful of what dorm you are applying to. The cheapest dorm is jones hall. I lived there for my first year and it was a little run down. The elevators weren't great and shut down multiple times throughout the year. Since the campus is located next to agriculture facilities, there is a strong smell present at times. There is a train that goes directly by some of the dorms so It can be loud at times. I had Jarret Hall my second year and it was a newer dorm so it was very nice. I would also be wary of the dryers you use. Sometimes they can burn and ruin clothes.
Their Activity Center was nice
There's not much to do on or around campus. The dining hall was below average.
How it has a community feel to it but has lots to offer.
Nothing to really do.
They are always willing to help the students.
Apply for housing early and sign up for NSO early.
