I enjoyed that it is a small university without sports teams or large extracurriculars. The school is for school and facilitated its students by having a wide range of subjects to study from Engineering to Business, and devotes much of its focus to STEM field careers.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
Lack of networking for alumni who no longer live in the state of Texas. Many, so many, deer roam the campus so you need to drive very carefully at all times of the year. Proximity to a local high school that has very dangerous traffic in the morning and afternoon. The professors were not always the most approachable, and some would not allow for adjustments during the pandemic.
UHCL is a great campus for those looking to have more opportunities for Environmental Sciences and Biology. There are so many projects constantly hosted/studied here or through EIH. Great for learning how to do real-world studies/techniques for Biology and Environmental science/Ecology majors.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
Some of the higher-level courses have professors that move too slowly/ don't really teach by maybe glancing at their own lectures. Sometimes there are new hires who have no idea how to use Blackboard.
