WHAT I LIKED

There are two surprising features of UF. The first one is how breathtakingly big it is. The second one is how nice and kind everyone is. In terms of research experience and industry connections, UF has a broad array of labs that will readily take you and is constantly bringing internship opportunities to you. I had a lab opportunity lined up within mere weeks of arriving as an international transfer student. Professors and advisors are also very helpful and are actively there to guide you with either academic or professional paths you might want to take. Overall, it is an amazing community full of opportunity and support. I rarely say this, but I would fully recommend UF!

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Aspects to improve UF might be the campus facilities. It would also be really nice to have university-wide events.

WHAT I LIKED

The most that I liked most about the University of Florida would have to be the overall environment. You are always surrounded by students who are like-minded and have ambitions to be the best that they can be. Mingling with other students can be a bit nerve-racking to start since they are strangers, but you soon realize that everyone is in the same position in regards to that; and they all want friends so whenever you approach someone, they're always have to talk.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

What I did not like about the University of Florida was its concept of weed-out courses. For the most part, initial classes in a major's coursework will be weed-out courses that will be very difficult. Both professors and advisors will tell you to change majors or seek other fields if you do not seem to meet the standards they have, even if you only had a bad exam or a bad week.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The advisors at UF are not the greatest; sometimes it seems they don't want you to succeed. Just keep pushing for answers when you're stuck and need help.

WHAT I LIKED

Absolutely loved my experience at UF! There are very few schools that excel at academics, athletics, and extracurriculars like UF does. If you want the whole experience, this school is amazing for that. As far as classes, they are very large. Dorms and facilities are quite old inside and can be dirty. The college of HHP (which I am in) was the best decision I made. The faculty and staff are top of the line in rankings, but also care about you personally. Overall highly recommend it!
