I like that the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has a small school feel while also being big enough to meet lots of people and have a good college experience. In academics, UTC has pushed me to be a better student and to really apply myself to my school work. The atmosphere is encouraging, and I would recommend this school to anyone!
A prospective student should know that there are people at the school to support their mental and emotional health. I feel the school could do better at talking about these facilities.
UTC is one of those campuses that can be made to feel very big or very small. There are always opportunities to connect with other students and members of the community. Chattanooga is an incredible city, with so much to offer young adults seeking their life's passions. The collaborations between the community and the university allow students to become fully incorporated in the Scenic City. With the array of outdoor activities accessible, this can be an adventurous place to live!
College is difficult, and without proper leadership can be barely navigatable. The advising at UTC is not a facet to rave about. The advisors come and go frequently. There have been many times that I have had to see multiple advisors answer one measly question. Also, UTC parking is a walking joke. The parking passes are sold in a way that close-to-campus lots are virtually empty. General lots are almost always full, taking students an hour to find parking.
I love the atmosphere and the opportunities that are presented by staff, and that you are always welcome to get involved in activities around campus.
I did not like some of the academic policies presented by a few professors but that is normal and comes with all universities!
