Ever since attending Tennessee State University, I can say it's the best decision I've ever made! I've developed many connections, there are plenty of opportunities at the career fairs where you can get jobs, internships, etc. The staff and faculty here are very friendly and patient with all of the students and are there for you whenever you are in need of anything. The dining hall serves delicious food and the cafeteria is spacious. The on-campus events are enjoyable and you can meet someone new at every event!
The only thing I can complain about is their response time to issues, especially financial issues. Whenever you need something done urgently you have to send multiple emails back to back just to get a response back in a timely manner.
What really made me appreciate my choice in coming so far away from home was the culture here on campus.
It's not exactly in the city but the neighborhood is still pretty urban. Just wish that there were more food options within walking distance for those that don't have reliable transportation.
My education at Tennessee State University has been nothing short of amazing! The staff is truly centered on making sure all students succeed and the dorm life is amazing. I am truly blessed to be a part of such an amazing school around amazing and determined students like myself. I am grateful for this experience and I am sure that the education and experience I am gaining will be useful to my future career as a cosmetic scientist!
My experience at Tennessee State University has been amazing. However, I would say my least favorite part would be the accessibility of staff.
I like the atmosphere and the people. Every day you meet someone new & that's what the college experience is about. I've made so many new friends and I owe that to Tennessee State University.
Be aware of traveling. Uber's cost a lot of money so having a car on campus is a must.
Since attending Tennessee State, I have gained a multitude of things. I have found myself, found others who are like family, and found my purpose by taking pride in the career I chose as a Psychologist.
Although it is a lovely environment, be aware of the living conditions. The buildings are semi-old so there will be issues but they can be resolved!
Overall, it is a good school. Many of the departments can be unorganized, so the responsibility falls on the students to be on top of things. That can be frustrating while juggling your studies, but it's something you have to be prepared for. Like many collegiate institutions, you get what you put in. I've enjoyed what I've learned and experienced so far.
Some departments are unorganized and you may have to talk to many faculty members before an issue is resolved. You must be persistent and your own advocate.
