Prepares students in STEM well for post graduate programs such as medical school
The school is really STEM based and not for students interested in business. Bad food and dorms aren't really good.
I loved everything about Stony Brook, everyone is very nice along with the campus itself.
The dining hall food isn't always the best.
I really enjoyed that there are so many different clubs on campus and, I found some clubs with people like me and where it felt most like home. The classes get harder as they go but if you put your mind to it you’ll be fine.
The dining hall food is hit or miss. But there are other options on campus if you don’t want dining hall food. They just cost money.
Stony Brook is a wonderful school for incoming freshmen who are eager to learn. It is not a party school but you will make lifelong friendships with a lot of students.
Be aware of the social life at stony brook. This is a commuter school so a lot of people go back home on the weekends.
If you're looking for a rigorous education, you'll get it at SBU. Courses here prepare you for both the workforce and graduate school. Stony's healthcare programs are especially well-respected on and beyond the island. Utilize the volunteer opportunities at SBUH to adequately position yourself. Also, since it's a research university, take advantage of the plethora of lab experiences! It's a great school if you're looking for a serious and scholastic atmosphere.
If you choose to live on campus, there isn't much "campus life" on weekends, as commuters make up the majority of students. Just something to be aware of in case you have the expectation that this campus will be fun, bustling, and lively outside of class.
I like that it is a big campus with a lot of brick buildings. I think it makes the college look aesthetic and comforting.
The food is rarely open and is not great.
