About

We are the third oldest college in the nation and we have locations in Santa Fe, NM and Annapolis, MD. Both campuses have fewer than 500 students each. What makes St. John's College so unique is that we have one major and all our students complete the same liberal arts courses. Students take Mathematics, Laboratory Sciences, French, Greek, Philosophy, Literature, Political Science, Music Theory, and more. Classes are taught in discussion-based method, allowing everyone to have a voice. Each class is taught with classic literature instead of textbooks, so students learn from the original designers of the topics. They will read Plato, Du Bois, Tocqueville, Milton, Austen, Shakespeare, Baldwin, and 200+ others. We reduced our tuition in 2018, plus we are dedicated to making this unique education affordable for everyone. We have been TEST OPTIONAL for more than 40 years!

Are religion classes mandatory at St. John's College?
St. John's College
Good question! Despite the name, we are NOT a religious institution and open to students of all faith and non-faith. While there are some conversations and books tied to Christianity, they are not meant to teach ideals but instead to understand within the context of human thought and classic literature.
