SBU offers 4 different housing styles. We have two suite style dorms, which means there is one bathroom between each room, so 4 girls to one bathroom. Our community-style dorm allows for 1 big bathroom on each floor. Hotel-style rooms include one bathroom in each room, set up much like a hotel. Lastly, we have on-campus apartments for upperclassmen.

What are the best ways to get the most out of my college experience?
Southwest Baptist University
There are lots of ways to enjoy college, receive the most financial aid, and grow spiritually, socially, academically, and so much more! My advice is to get out of your comfort zone and meet as many people as possible your first week on campus. Get involved in all the clubs, organizations, and activities to meet new people and learn as much as possible.

I really enjoy attending SBU. One disadvantage is having to attend a certain amount of chapels per semester, it is not as enjoyable if it is mandatory to attend. They do have lots of different ways to earn chapel credits which is nice

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Just be prepared for the college workload. However, most instructors are very kind and understanding and will work with students, especially during a family crisis

I love how much the professors care about their students! I have made lots of wonderful friends and had a great experience so far!

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The dining facilities last year were pretty awful. However, we are supposed to be getting a new dining provider, so it should be a lot better this year!

It is a very close-knit community here and it is easy to make friends. As someone who was worried about finding friends in college, this truly was the best place for me to come. They offer an event called welcome week the first four days following move-in for incoming freshman and transfer students. You get put into a group of people and you spend a lot of time together. I was always told these people would be your "built-in friends" and that is totally true. When you see that familiar face in a classroom or in the dining hall, you don't have to worry about going and sitting next to them. My whole welcome week group still sits together in big groups when we are in public areas. It really is crazy how fast you can get comfortable with someone. I really appreciate that fact about SBU.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I don't like that there is only one dining hall. Granted it does offer multiple meal options in the one dining hall and there are a few other places on campus to get food so there are still options. But there is one main dining hall and that took a little bit to get used to.
