I loved that even though I didn't grow up in a Christian community everyone was very accepting of my beliefs. I loved studying Christianity and learning more about everyday Christian life. Students and faculty are extremely welcoming and friendly. Mostly every professor I have had so far has been very easy to approach, as well as flexible with my athletic schedule. Even though the food available in the Caf wasn't always stellar, I loved that our ID card works for more than just the Caf but also the Bean Scene. That is a very cute coffee shop right in the heart of our campus, and you can use "red hawks bucks" or real money to get drinks there. You may also use a meal swipe in the bean scene to get personal pizzas or turkey sandwiches and things like that. Right next to the shop is a huge room called the Student Union. The SU is used for studying mainly, students can go inside 24 hours a day to study, or even just to hang out. From an academic aspect, the classes here are challenging and engaging, but not too difficult as if I would never receive an A. My grades continue to get better as I learn to ask for more help here because Simpson is great at that. I just recently applied for the trio program at my school, which is a huge benefit for me. On my first day in trio, I got my major focus switched from general to clinical so that I am on track for graduating and jumping straight into the master's program. Trio also offers time management help, tutoring, and many more services I can't wait to look into. Lastly, I loved the diversity of Simpson, we have so many students from many different countries come across the world to attend this school, play sports, and learn more about how to be close to God.
The tuition at Simpson increases annually, and many students weren't aware of this when committing and doing research on the school. The cafeteria workers are amazing people, but there are usually the same foods being served in our Caf. They make good burgers and pasta, but the variety is not wide, and when something new is there most people tell me it's not good. A big aspect that I didn't like about Simpson and think prospective students should be aware of, is that if you qualify for receiving financial aid like FAFSA, if you apply to move off campus before you are 24 or married, Simpson will take money out of your housing package. This means that it would cost more for me to go to school even though I would no longer be living in the dorms. This goes for anyone and everyone that is eligible for receiving financial aid, even local kids that live in the city of Redding where Simpson is.
