When I came to PBA, the first thing I noticed was how welcoming and vibrant the students and faculty were. Everyone cares about you, you are never doing anything alone. The professors are wonderful and are very invested in their students' lives and education.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
The community service requirement is a lot to take on as a first-year student. I am in favor of having community service be a part of my college experience, but using it as a requirement lessens the impact on the student. Service is supposed to come from the heart, and overloading students with it makes it less meaningful.
I like the professors and how caring they are. Everyone will talk to one another and it is one small community. It is super easy to make friends in your classes as well as in the chapel. There are many fun activities that occur every week, keeping you busy.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
I do not like some of the rules such as curfew and guests are only allowed to go to your dorm at a certain time. It is more strict than some parents which is what makes these rules difficult.
The most impactful thing about Palm Beach Atlantic University is the Christ-centered community where I am surrounded by other Jesus followers.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
The dorm I chose to live in my freshman year consisted of seven other females, and I was not prepared for that type of co-living situation. I wish they would do background surveys and pair you with people that are similar to your style and preferences.
Palm Beach Atlantic University has a very beautiful campus. It is a Christian university and students have requirements like serving the community for a set amount of hours and attending a set amount of chapel services. The security do their best to protect students. There are a wide range of library resources. Tutoring services are limited but available. Professors are wonderful and go out of their way to help students. The biology program is very rigorous, so you will need to do your very best to succeed. If you're diligent, focused, and persistent, you can really be successful at this university.
WHAT I didn’t LIKE
There's nothing that I don't like about the university, but I have made some observations that might be helpful to prospective students. It is very important that you form study groups. Hang out with like-minded individuals who want to succeed. Join groups that bring the best out in you and encourage you to be refined.
