At least for the English department, the professors are there because they're passionate about the work. Occasionally, the amount of reading can be tough but it's all about powering through. Plus being able to share your opinions in a very accepting environment has been the highlight of my time here at OCC.
Use the professors to your advantage. Many of them genuinely care about you as a person outside of being a student. If there's a professor you're having trouble with, talking to them or to another professor for help is crucial. If things don't work out, it's just a semester.
I liked the campus of OCC, as well as the teachers and community. Every teacher that I had were very supportive and gave me extra credit opportunities. The new buildings on campus such as the College Center are amazing. In the college center is a great cafeteria and a ton of other students to converse with.
The only thing I did not like sometimes was getting a far-away parking spot.
People are kind.
Too far from my house.
The counselors are caring and helpful to students. There are many active organizations that help students engage and become involved with the campus. Be sure to subscribe to the Associated Students of Orange Coast College (ASOCC). They organize many meaningful and joyful events for OCC students that help us make friends and have fun.
Book prices are expensive at the bookstore.
I really love my calculus 2 professor, he shows so much passion while doing his job which makes it more enjoyable coming to listen to his lecture.
The chemistry professor is horrible. Never teach us anything and would just hand us some assignment to self-study. quiz every week is a huge nightmare and there is also an exam every 2-3 weeks.
People are friendly and professors try to help you.
Large campus.
