Oakland University is a great school if you want to excel in your academic career but don't want to be overwhelmed at a large campus university. OU provides as much education aid as possible to all students by making time to talk to them and guide them. I made many long-lasting connections with new friends and professors just by being present on campus. I will say that the general classes are a bit difficult when you start out at college but once you reach the 3000 and 4000 level classes, you meet the people and professors who have the same goals and ideas as you do and it will feel like you belong and are understood- it is the place where you find your peers and make the best memories of your life.
The introductory and general education courses are a bit difficult to get accustomed to because of the large class sizes and the fast pace but if you can get through that, you can get through the rest of college without breaking a sweat.
Very affordable and make resources available to students.
Some departments can be really hard academically.
Oakland University was a good college experience! Overall I had a nice time with virtually everyone I interacted with and really enjoyed my teachers and the students. This is where I found my love for instructional design and training others and took additional courses, just to learn more. Now, years later I get to work in my field of choice, and I appreciate having the previous fundamental knowledge from college.
It was close to home Free parking Dry campus
The financial aid department was rude and always gave incorrect information. Academic advisors force you into degree pathways you do not want and sign you up for classes you do not need. The dean, financial aid department, and admissions were all very rude, hard to get ahold of, and do little to help their students
Oakland University is overall a great school. It has a very nice campus to walk around, the library is always filled with many people to socialize and interact with. The professors are very nice and a lot of help is available if needed.
One downside about Oakland University is the lack of parking spaces but if you arrive early to your classes you should be able to find parking.
Close to home. Has classes I needed.
Night classes are 6-920pm wish they started at 4 or 5.
