WHAT I LIKED

Academically, Nova Southeastern University provided me with a great education. The class sizes were perfect, just small enough that you were able to build connections with your professors but large enough that you had plenty of peers to connect with outside of class. The labs and facilities were amazing, especially out at the Oceanographic Center, where I had some classes and labs.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

In my personal opinion, it felt like the school president, Dr. Hanbury cared more about securing potential students and funding than he did taking care of his current students. There were always events held on campus for outsiders like cheerleading competitions during finals week. Student requests felt like they were constantly ignored. There was not much for student life on campus since a majority of the students lived off-campus.

WHAT I LIKED

Nova Southeastern University is a private university, which means the classrooms are small, and you get to interact more with professors and students. NSU has pushed me out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to expand my social and educational life. I recommend NSU to any student!

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Nova Southeastern University is a smaller university than more, the food options become very limited if you live on campus because it's mostly the same options every day.

WHAT I LIKED

I loved the support NSU gives to students!

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I don't really like the food and also not that good for business majors.

WHAT I LIKED

Studying biology at Nova Southeastern University was overall a great experience. The small class sizes really encourage you to interact with your professors and peers and is great for forming close connections. There were many tutoring/advisement services available that were helpful for more difficult core classes. The campus is beautiful and there are so many great study spots. I myself did not live on campus; however, I did see my friends' dorms, which were above par compared to other dorms I've seen. Personally, I was involved in club soccer, a pre-professional club, and a community service organization at NSU. I can confidently say my participation in these organizations is what made my undergraduate experience memorable. NSU's athletics (although NSU does not have a football team) are consistently ranked as one of the best and sporting events were always so fun to attend.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I do believe that the biology/chemistry department was slightly overhyped and could use some improvement, however, especially due to the limited number of professors available which honestly made registering for classes very stressful. Although I did have my fair share of bad professors, I also had a handful of professors who were very knowledgeable and wanted you to succeed. Overall, the professors were very responsive and did have plenty of office hours outside of class. Because NSU is still a growing university, clubs were sometimes not well developed and were still up-and-coming. I believe as NSU becomes a more popular undergraduate university this will evolve.

WHAT I LIKED

I just started there in the fall of 2021 and so far my experience has been great. It's a private school, but there are plenty of scholarships to choose from so tuition for me hasn't been too crazy. I'm a commuter so I don't know much about living on campus but they have plenty of events, and the people on campus are amazing!

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

As a commuter, I don't go to campus much. When I do I don't know people there. People from my classes are nice but on campus, you can tell the difference between the people that live on campus vs. those that don't.

WHAT I LIKED

I liked that daily classes and clinical externship prepared us to see what our field was during our lectures and in the hospital setting. It was a great way to decide if this profession was really what we wanted.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

It is an intense academic course so it is important to know that you can do it and cross over the finish line. Do not give up.
