Millikin is a great university for chemistry majors looking for an ACS-accredited school. The only downfall is the cost of tuition and limited communications between the registrar and financial aid to help students keep costs affordable.
Make sure to confirm your tuition and aid before the semester starts.
As a digital media marketing major, I have enjoyed my experience with Millikin University. There is a wide variety of courses to take that help students gain skills to use in the career world. Millikin focuses on performance learning. After your first year, many courses in the business curriculum are less about lecture and more about hands-on learning. This includes projects, presentations, and business pitches/competitions.
Academically, I enjoy Millikin. There are many restaurants in Decatur, but the selection of food on-campus is limited. The cafeteria does take suggestions on things that can be added to the menu. Also, Millikin is placed in a soy town. About one day a week the entire campus will smell like soy (unpleasant smell).
I enjoyed the professors here on campus. They treated us like adults and as equals. I also really like how they prefer performance learning here, instead of burying us in text books.
They have your first week on campus as a welcome week and they made it mandatory. It was from 8am-8pm everyday for the whole week. I would've enjoyed more free time to explore on my own.
