There are opportunities to get involved on campus. My biggest disappointment was the dining facilities. As an international student, the school made me feel well and provided opportunities to blend in.
Campus involvement is a big thing!
I loved my professors and the opportunities provided by attending a smaller school. I can not recommend applying to the Honors College enough, that absolutely enhanced my experience. MWSU is great for nursing or pre-med students, they have a robust STEM program.
There are not the greatest food options or amenities in general. Some parts of campus are beautiful and others are just plain old and ugly.
The quality of the education you receive at Midwestern State University is remarkable for the amount of money you spend on tuition. The class sizes are small enough that you can actually develop long-lasting, supportive relationships with your professors, who have always been ready to help each student that sought them out. Inclusivity and social sensitivity are hallmarks of this institution's administration, and though there is an obvious funding disparity between the various colleges on campus, the fine arts do not struggle in making the most out of less.
Though the university seeks to expand its offerings in the future, parking has been a common issue among many students, who even have to resort to parking in the church lots adjacent to campus. There have also been issues with the bookstore, so it is advisable that students seek out their textbooks as soon as possible to avoid delays. Academic advising is also another area where students must take an initiative, as there have been a decent amount of horror stories where poor planning led to students not graduating on time. However, taking an active role in structuring your semesters, especially before your junior year, can save you a lot of headaches.
What I liked most about Midwestern State University are the classes that pertain to my Major and the social life that comes with living at school. You meet a lot of great people and experience a lot of great new things in and outside of class.
Something I didn't like about MSU was some of the basic courses that are needed. More so the professors and their way of teaching and grading.
I appreciate the communities that Midwestern State has to offer, I have met different people from many other backgrounds. I have used those connections that I have made to branch out into other areas of interest. Being at Midwestern State University has allowed getting out of my comfort zone.
Just be aware that you would be in a conservative area surrounded by conservative people who don’t care to express their opinions on students and make threats.
