WHAT I LIKED

Classes at LSU tend to be better if they are more specific. During freshman year, you will have a hard time finding classes you are passionate about if you only take gen eds. Joining an honors class or a higher-level course will always benefit you! I have found that if you reach out to professors with a combo of email, office hours, and asking a question or two after class, they will move mountains for you! LSU loves interacting with the students but sometimes you have to initiate the relationship.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Many majors at LSU will not hold your hand after the first semester. Find an older student to mentor you through scheduling. Advisors are never as helpful as the head of your department or an upperclassman with the same major as you!

WHAT I LIKED

It has a beautiful campus with lots of friendly faces. Everyone is willing to socialize and be helpful. Almost everyone on campus works to make sure that everyone feels included and seen while working to make life at Louisiana state university fun as well.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I liked pretty much everything. The only thing I had trouble adjusting to was how far away from home it is and the constant weather changes.

WHAT I LIKED

I like how the professors always being helpful and understanding. They will try anything to make sure you've caught up on homework, information in class, etc.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Their food freshness at the dining hall or other food stations. High parking fees and tuition.

WHAT I LIKED

LSU is a very open and diverse campus allowing all walks of life to experience and grow into the future leader or civilians of this country. You will interact with people with various beliefs and lifestyles and you will be able to navigate and adapt to your situation better. The food is great, the campus scenery is nice, and the mosquitoes can be bad during the spring and summer months, however, so be prepared.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Some of the departments are run terribly and the leaders in charge of those departments are incompetent. Some teachers and programs aren't given the best chance to succeed due to either funding or general disliking of the program. The workload depending on your major can be extremely challenging as well. Be prepared to spend money on textbooks/ lab manuals as not all teachers provide free links or have a certain book they use that you can only get from a paid subscription.

WHAT I LIKED

I liked the number of opportunities LSU has for new students to become involved. There is something for everyone at LSU.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I was disappointed in the way that some classes are oriented. It feels like the classes I was most looking forward to, often didn't have enough content or the instructor didn't care about teaching the students.
