WHAT I LIKED

The professors in the psychology department are some of the most genuine people you will ever meet. They all genuinely want their students to succeed and you feel that in each and every class. I love my department.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The dorms aren't great, and there is an active housing crisis-- beware! The dining halls aren't great and financial aid and admin can make things unnecessarily difficult. Document everything regarding admission and financial aid.

WHAT I LIKED

I like the social life at Howard, when you are a freshman it is easy to make friends. However, as a chemistry major, I can say from experience that the advisors are not helpful. You have to find information on your own with little to no help, despite only them being able to help.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Advisors are not very helpful. There is an issue with the dorms and dining halls, it is ridiculous because of all the money that Howard gets annually.

WHAT I LIKED

I loved the feeling of being around other students just like me. It was something that I have have never experienced before Howard.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The administration is very slow about solving problems. The housing situation is also horrible. Every year there are students without housing and those who get housing have issues with flooding, rodents and mold.

WHAT I LIKED

As a freshman, I have seen and experienced a lot while being at HU. I love the open campus and freedom we are given; we are not confined by big walls that make us feel like we are in prison. There are so many different people here, and everyone is nice. There are also a million different ways to connect with people you relate to. Whether it be others from your state or within your major, you can find a way to make friends very easily.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I have had trouble adjusting to the area we are in and some of the students here. Though it is easy to get along with others, you also get a taste of the different personalities from all over the world. I also had a hard time with our internet being down for a while and some of the dorms having issues, but as of now all is well and the minor issues have been resolved.

WHAT I LIKED

The culture, atmosphere, and tradition that is present on campus. Everybody is trying to get their education and also make sure their college experience is the best it can be. If you are someone who loves culture and wants to make connections and friends with many people then Howard University is just for you.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

They need to fix their dorm situations, cafes, and how they treat their staff. Their communication can use some work too and their faculty tend to be lazy at some points throughout the year. They need to fix these issues so that college students can make their year smooth and the best possible.

WHAT I LIKED

I liked all of the vast opportunities and internships available.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The administration isn't very helpful and you have to stay on track of things. Always be ahead. The dorm situation has gotten better but they need more work.
