What is your dream college experience? A supportive and close-knit community? Professors who are not only teachers, but mentors? A commitment to career readiness? The freedom to pursue your own interests with institutional support? At Hendrix College, an independent mindset and a strong career focus lead to a transformative experience for our students. With a student body of around 1,100 undergraduates, a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and an average class size of only 16, we are all about building a true community in the college town of Conway, Arkansas. From charity fundraisers organized by clubs to dorm vs. dorm dance competitions to hikes around the Natural State, we believe that as much learning happens in informal settings as in the classroom. And as an LGBTQ+ friendly campus, everyone is welcome here. The Odyssey program is at the core of the Hendrix approach to giving students the freedom to explore their interests on their own terms. All students have a structured major, but they also must complete at least 3 Odyssey projects, which are independent projects that they propose themselves. This can be applying for funds to study abroad, conducting undergraduate research, performing in a recital, living in the Language House, and more. You can find more about the Odyssey here: https://www.hendrix.edu/odyssey/ We also have a very strong career focus. Hendrix College's Office of Career Services has received national recognition for its work to train all students in career competencies - critical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, and more. Every sophomore returns to campus three days early for "Career Term", where they learn how to write resumes, interview effectively, and articulate the value of a liberal arts education. With a 90% graduate/professional school acceptance rate and alumni in successful careers, Hendrix College prepares students for a life of accomplishment, integrity, service, and joy in the 21st century.
