Because this school is not in a city, it was the perfect place to build long-lasting friendships and relationships with your peers. I felt safe and had a ton of fun being involved in organizations throughout the campus. The school is also about 30 minutes from a beach which is always nice!
Curfew freshman year was very different, but it only lasted for 4 weeks. Also, before the new cafe was built, the old cafes would just give me the creeps. The buildings could be modernized, but that comes with a school that has been around since the 1800s.
Hampton University is what you make it to be! The professors are amazing, the organizations are great also as well as the people I have met! As a Psychology major on a pre-med track, I have met some of the best professors who will give their all for you to succeed
Students should be aware of the tuition. Aim for a scholarship if you can.
I like that Hampton University is a challenging place for students are able to thrive and be challenged to meet their full potential.
I did not like how Hampton University does not provide enough funds to cover the cost of attendance for students that are dealing with special circumstances. The financial aid office is extremely dismissive of students' requests for additional aid and there is little to no attentiveness to new students who may be struggling with their transition into the collegiate lifestyle.
Hampton is a great school to go to if you're a science major and if you want to form tight-knit relationships, but the administration is not the best. Hampton is famous for not giving you direct answers and making you run all over campus to find an answer. Hampton acquires so much money but doesn't use it to enhance campus life.
I didn't like the administration. I personally felt like Hampton is money hungry and I feel like a lot of the staff did not care about the students.
Hampton University is just as it says it is, The Standard of Excellence. They truly do work for you to perform your best academically. The atmosphere of the campus is so beautiful and it is the perfect place to start your college journey. Being ranked #4 in the top HBCUs in the country, I strongly suggest selecting Hampton University as your Home by the Sea.
The food here is okay, it definitely is not gourmet, but it does get you through the week.
Hampton University is a great school all around. The teacher truly wants the best for you in every way possible. They want to see you succeed and that truly means a lot.
The food and dorm life.
