ECU is a great school to go to for education. The majority of the professors are kind, minus the few that are not. the campus is great, they just built a new student center that has so many amenities. I would definitely recommend getting involved in activities around the campus

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

overall it was a great school

East Carolina University is a very lively community that tries to incorporate students into multiple events to create a science of community and fit. I like the food, it's very varied and quite good. The dorms and a bit chaotic but that is mostly because of the people that live there but there’re okay.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

This is mostly a personal though but the atmosphere at night in the dorms is a bit loud and I can't sleep sometimes because of the people here not to mention that ECU is a petty school so the weekends are even worst, but the RA’s are very thoughtful and fantastic persons who will help you if needed.

Overall, I have loved my experience at ECU so far! The campus is beautiful to walk around and sit in the mall reading a book. There are many restaurants on and around campus, especially in uptown. How close everything is to one another is such a relief when it comes to someone like myself who doesn't have a car. The bus system is pretty good but occasionally runs a bit late. The only thing I would caution you about are parties related to fraternities and sororities. Since greek like is such a large part of ECU, it seems like every weekend there is another party. The good part though is that you can easily avoid it if that's not your scene. Surrounding yourself with people of the same morals is easy and rewarding.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

There are a few things that I haven't enjoyed about ECU and one of them is how expensive surrounding things are. When it comes to off-campus living, it's difficult to find somewhere that is reliable and less than $600 a month for rent. It's not a complete deal-breaker, but it is something to consider. Especially with current inflation rates, I can only assume that it will continue to rise. Another thing is all of the police/medical sirens that you can hear. Most of the time, you can ignore it, but sometimes it just becomes a little unbearable. Since ECU is right next to Vidant hospital, there are many ambulances that drive right by campus. The police station is also right next to campus, and they get called frequently as well.

Just having a walkable city was enjoyable. I have never been to a place where I could walk everywhere rather than drive.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Frat parties. Drugs. Gun violence. Sexual assaults.
