What opportunities or programs does Colorado Mesa University have in place to help first-year students acclimate to college life?

Abigail, CMU offers multiple ways for first-time students to get involved. From Early Move-In Program for incoming freshmen only where they get to move on campus a week prior to the semester starting to get acclimated to campus, student orientation upon arrival to help freshmen's get to know one another as well as their professors. Club fair first week of school to showcase what clubs and organizations are offered. In addition, each residence hall assistant will put on multiple activities for incoming students to get involved in.

As someone that is apart of a minority in Grand Junction, how inclusive is Colorado Mesa University and how does the staff keep said campus inclusive for all students?

Hi Abigail, As a minority myself that attended CMU (class of 2016), CMU is 30% diverse with 23% Hispanics and the rest make up African-Americans, Pacific Islander, Asian. We have a Cultural Inclusion Council which makes up Black Student Alliance, Genders and Sexualities Alliance, International Student Alliance, Latino Student Alliance, Native American Student Association, and Ho'olokahi Polynesian Club Alliance. Hiring staff from different backgrounds helps CMU keep the campus inclusive for all students.
