Melissa Smith 16 September 2019 As we grow older, interests, goals, dreams, and perspective of how they we are to live changes. Some may already know what they want to do in life and are completely positive that it is right for them. There are others that can be unsure or are searching for what they really want to do even if they still have an idea of what it might be along with having many interests. I would say I am the type of person who has many interests but also has a dream of what exactly I want to do in my future. My path to get to my dreams is planning what my small goals and big goals will be get to the success I want. I want to be satisfied with my goals and choices I make now in the future. My dream for the future is to definitely work in the field of dermatology; specifically cosmetic dermatology. When I was younger, I always had an interest in helping others. Whether it was being a teacher, veterinarian, child physiatrist, or scientist, I knew in me wanted to help or give back any way I could in my career. I have interest in animals and working with kids. My favorite subject to learn about whether it is in school or at home is science It's always been the most intriguing topic for me. It is easy to see why I was searching for careers would like to pursue in doing because they fell into the category of my interests. Dermatology was not what I wanted to first all. It's not until I decided to look more into all the different types of medical fields I can study. I found this field and did research. I researched the different branches in dermatology, courses in college I would have to take, and the procedures performed on the skin. I also related to my personal life to why this is what I wanted to do. Dealing with my own skin conditions and feeling ashamed of how it made me look along with how people react and knowing the feeling of wanting to get help from someone who knows exactly what to do. I wanted to be that person to help others with that. I also believe this is my dream because I feel passionate about it and I feel like it will be something I love to learn about and have as a career. In 30 years, to consider my life successful at the point is reaching my goal of being a dermatologist and continuing to reach the goals I set for myself. I want to still be continuing to accomplish goals whether it is doing better at work or just becoming more responsible & organized. Also, my family is very hardworking and I am inspired by them. But if I could be that one family member to the new generation that they look up to and aspire to accomplish like, I would consider myself very successful because the success for others futures will happen too. I say this because it would have been great to have several role models in my family to take paths similar to what I wanted to do growing up. Lastly, to consider myself successful I would want to be wealthy and stable enough for my family and know how to handle my money. Growing up and finding new topics that take my interest guided me to know what my goals are for the future. I believe that everyone has a dream they can reach in life. All we need to do is open our minds, search for what that dream because there is so much we can find that we may love to do. Then, we put out goals to get there. On my journey, this will be what I do to get to that dream and be successful.
