I work at a haunted house full time from Mid-September to early November. I have fallen in love with the haunt industry and I plan on opening my own haunted house one day. That is what I am truly passionate about. I have notebooks full of costume sketches, animatronic designs, logos, name ideas, thematic concepts, makeup concepts. You name it about, I have probably written it down. Although the haunt industry is seasonal, it is a year round project. At the Wells Township Haunted House, the nationally ranked haunted house I work as that has sparked this passion in me, concepts for themes come pouring in from volunteers in early Jaunary and the buliding starts in March and literally does not end until opening day. I love the effort and creativity behind this industry. I love the acting aspect. Even though most of my weeks during haunt season are spent without a voice and I have most definitely done permanent damage to my vocal cords, I absolutely love interacting with tours. I love the family behind the haunt. I want to create that family for future teens who need that stability. I know I was one of those kids. I want to have the next haunted house to rise up the ranks, but most importantly I want to create a haunt family.
