Welcome to Bold.org's Student Storytime Contest, where your voice, story, and student life experiences can pave the way to incredible rewards! We’re talking about cash in your pocket, not a scholarship! This six-month campaign is your chance to share the reality of student life, from high school hallways to college campuses.

Dive into thought-provoking questions, reveal your funny stories, and give us a glimpse of your academic journey. Enter your video today for a chance to win a slice of the $17,000 cash prize pool.

The top story will be awarded a whopping $8,000! The 2nd through 10th place entries will each receive $1,000! These funds can be used for anything you want, like living expenses, textbooks, tuition, and more.

Whether nervous or excited about your educational path, your student stories can inspire others and win you cash. Let's get the world buzzing about your story!

We are so excited to see your student life experiences! To get started, you can either record a video of yourself or interview a friend on your campus. Address the provided sample questions, or come up with your own!

Please make your video between 30 and 90 seconds in length. Once it’s ready, upload it to Instagram or TikTok, and don't forget to enter using the form below.

The contest will continue through July 4th, with winners expected to be announced on or around August 4th.  Winners will be announced on our social media channels, and each will be personally contacted to arrange the distribution of prizes. Please read the full Contest Rules below.

Not sure how to start? We've included an example entry for you to watch!

You don’t need any fancy video equipment to win, and you also don’t need a big social media following! When entering, follow & tag us @bolddotorg and include the hashtag #studentstorytime2024 so we can reshare your college or high school experiences on our stories. Before you enter, make sure you’re signed up on Bold.org.

If you aren’t yet, sign up here for free! Only one entry per individual is permitted, so make sure you submit your best content.

To help you get started, we curated a list of great questions you can talk about yourself or ask other students. Feel free to use these questions or come up with your own!

Example Questions (HS):

  • What is one thing you wish you would’ve known before starting high school?
  • What is your dream college?
  • What is your dream major?
  • Would you say you’re more nervous or excited about college?
  • What is the worst subject ever?
  • What do you think is the best subject?

Example Questions (College):

  • Why did you end up choosing this college?
  • What was your GPA when you got into this school?
  • What would you rate the dorms on a scale of 1-10?
  • How easy is it to make friends on campus?
  • What would you rate the campus food on a scale of 1-10?
  • If you had to change one thing about this school, what would it be?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter multiple videos?

We love your enthusiasm! To keep things fair and fun for everyone, we only accept one entry per individual. So give it your all and submit your best content!

Can I enter as an international student living in the U.S.?

Content must be filmed and posted in the United States. If you are an international student studying in the United States, you are eligible to enter and win as long as you can confirm your student status and local address when selected as a winner.

Can I increase my chances of winning?

Following the rules and rubrics is the best way to win! Tell us a great story with your submission and focus on authentic campus experiences. No purchase is necessary to win. To make the contest fair, having more followers, engagement, or being an active Bold.org user will not increase your chances of winning. Starting a scholarship or being a scholarship winner on Bold.org will also not affect your chances of winning.

What are the judging criteria?

Submissions will be given points (maximum of 10) with each of the four criteria weighted equally: Engagement and Storytelling, Creativity and Originality, Emotional Appeal, and Video Quality. For more details, see the rubric on the contest page and the official Contest Rules. Ultimately, the theme revolves around your authentic student life experiences!

When will the winners be announced?

The contest runs until July 4th. Winners will be announced on or around August 4th via our social media channels and contacted directly for prize distribution.

Is the prize in cash or a scholarship?

This contest is for 100% cash! The funds from winning the contest can be used at the winner's discretion, whether for living expenses, educational costs, or any other personal use.

Can both high school and college students enter?

Absolutely! This contest is open to both high school and college students. We encourage entries from all students keen to share their student experiences. Please remember that you must be 18 years old at the time of entry to be considered.
